Synthanet the Internet Services Company is pleased to announce a joint venture with Exeter based Solicitors Michelmores, offering a free website health check.

With the internet used more and more by suppliers and prospects alike, most members of the business community are now aware of the increased profits and convenience resultant upon a successful website. Success however should not merely be seen in terms of traffic. With increasing regulation in this area it is vital that websites be secure, and legally compliant, a fact often overlooked by companies in their rush to create an online presence.

Under new legislation, for instance:

• Any limited company should display on its home and contact pages: full name, registered office address, and company VAT number.

• When trading on line, all customers are entitled to return the goods and obtain a full refund up to 7 days after delivery (later in the event of their not having been made aware of their rights) irrespective of the condition of said goods?

• Customers must now “opt in” or actively confirm their consent to receive marketing emails.

• Companies wishing to obtain and/or store customer details must be registered under the Data Protection Act?
